Methods for improve quality in education
New methods are being developed to assess the social relevance of education and research.
In a higher education project, it has come to the conclusion that clearer criteria are needed to set up new educational programs and to revise existing ones. Therefore, new recommendations have been developed for relevance assessment within the quality system of the higher education institutions.
They concluded that methods such as:
• Support educational leaders and program managers in evaluating the relevance of education
• Involves external parties in the development and design of courses in their entirety or selected parts
• Assesses the needs of future students
Inventory and analysis of methods
A toolbox has been developed that describes methods and work processes to ensure the relevance of education to the perspective of working life, that is to say whether they cover working life needs.
Dialogue with external players
A checklist has been developed that can be used to clarify external actors' expectations, roles and commitments in connection with educational development.
Recommendations for quality assurance systems
Through interviews, analysis and identification of good examples, in an initial inventory they have found great similarities in the design work between the universities. EMan has also seen that the full potential of collaboration with consumers and society in the relevance assessment of education is not fully exploited.
