Om mig

Tony Jimenez-Beristain received his PhD degree in 2007 from Miguel Hernandez University, (Alicante, Spain), in the Institute of Neuroscience (IN-CSIC, Alicante). In the laboratory of professor De Felipe (IN-CSIC) and professor Li (Institute for Stem Cell Research, The University of Edinburgh). He investigated the role of the transcriptional factor Pitx3 during the differentiation and commitment of embryonic stem cells towards midbrain dopaminergic neurons and their potential use in cell replacement therapy to treat Parkinson's disease. His PhD research was awarded “Doctor Europaeus” by the European Universities Associations (European Community).

Later he moved to Uppsala University for a post-doctoral stay at the Biomedical Center to broaden his knowledge in regenerative neurobiology.

In 2011 he joined the first world mouse brain protein atlas project (https://www.proteinatlas.org/humanproteome/mouse+brain) as part of the Human Protein Atlas database. The mouse brain atlas has the aim to increase the knowledge of protein expression and distribution in the mammalian nervous system.

Currently, he is a scientific member of Stockholm's animal ethics committee. Additionally, for the past 10 years, he has been a safety and security officer in several departments belonging to Karolinska Institutet. In 2015 he was nominated for the 2015 Karolinska Institutet’s work environment and health award.
