About me

  • I am a Docent in Physiology and Assistant Senior Lecturer in the Division of
    Clinical Physiology at KI.

Research

  • An overall theme of my past and intended future long-term research relates to
the control and regulation of skeletal muscle mass and function. More
specifically, in contexts such as sports performance, disease and aging, I
am interested in how human skeletal muscle responds and adapts to increased
or decreased use. In this work, the functional, metabolic, morphological, and
molecular adaptations to acute and chronic resistance and/or aerobic-type
    training are studied.

Teaching

  • My general competence area is human physiology and sports science, with
specific expertise in exercise physiology. My current teaching activity is
50% of full-time. The teaching activities refer mainly to the Degree
programmes in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Biomedical
Analytics at the Karolinska Institutet. I am also the course leader for a
contract education course in Advanced Exercise Physiology (4.5 credits) and
a teacher at the PhD course "Writing Science and Information Literacy".
