  • Virtual Reality in Medical Training (EU Erasmus Plus)

A core need for medical students and residents is the hands on acquisition of pre-clinical and clinical skills, which is one of the most resource intensive endeavours in medical education (e.g. Anatomy, Surgery). Physical tangible resources and opportunities for such training are objectively inadequate due to the cadavers’ shortage worldwide. There is a clear need for quality immersive medical simulation resources and episodes. In order for surgical residents to obtain and therefore improve their operative skills and experience, it is best to learn and practice before and after patient encounter. Using tangible (3D prints) or intangible (AR/VR/MR) educational resources in these educational encounters we can achieve far superior immersion and support excellence in training and patient safety.

  • Chatbots Enhancing Medical Curiccula (EU Erasmus Plus)

The aim of CEPEH strategic partnership is to co-design and implement new pedagogical approaches and in particular chatbots for European Medical and Nursing schools. The CEPEH will use participatory design to engage stakeholders (students, healthcare workforce staff, lecturers, clinicians, etc.) in order to co-design effective chatbots and release them as open access resources. Through CEPEH effective use of digital technologies and open education will be incorporated into healthcare curricula. This will enable students to increase their health and medical related skills from offering flexible learning.


  • ACoRD(EU Erasmus Plus) Advancing Co-creation of RLOs (Reusable Learning Objects) to Digitise Healthcare Curriculum

ACoRD is a project funded by Erasmus Plus Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education (CBHE) and cofunded by Erasmus +Programme of the European Union. It is led by Prof. Heather Wharrad and her team from the University of Nottingham, UK. The partner universities include three universities from Malaysia: University of Malaya (UM), University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Taylor's University (TU), one from Norway - University of Stavanger (UiS) and Karolinska Institutet (KI)  from Sweden. 

The aim of the project is to introduce innovative digital pedagogy methods that will benefit healthcare and biomedical science students in the partner countries, by sharing existing expertise and training academic staff and technologists in those countries about how to develop high quality, peer reviewed multimedia digital tools and resources and integrate them into existing traditional curricula.
