About me

  • I am a Public Health Physician and Professor of Global Health. My formative work has been in East Africa over the last 20 years working on healht systems and implementation science in the fiels of child survival, perinatal quality of care and capacity development. I served as the Global Chief of the Health for UNICEF 2016-20, based in New York. From 1 January 2021 I am Professor of Global Transformation for Health at KI, with side affiliations to Uppsala University and Makerere University, Uganda.

Research

  • Stefan Swartling Peterson joins KI from UNICEF, New York, where he led the Lancet commission ‘A Future for the World’s Children?’ as the Global Chief of Health.

    At KI he will continue to advance the question how the world’s children can have optimal health and development now, but also a livable future, by addressing the social, commercial, and political determinants of health.

    Stefan is a research group member of Health Systems and Policy at the Department of Global Public Health.
