About me

  • I was born in Stockholm 1959 and have lived here basically all my life. After graduation from "Gymnasium" and military service I enrolled in Medical School at Karolinska Institutet 1981. I defended a thesis in Parmacology 1988 and became associate professor (docent) in Pharmacology 1990. To continue a clinical career I then returned to my studies and became a MD in 1992 and specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 1997 to become professor and senior consultant in 2005. In 1999 I spent a sensational year at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA. I have the fortune of having a fantastic job and feel most previledged to work in an environment helping patients as well as allowing me to persue interesting research areas in my speciality. I am married to lovely Brita and we have two adorable kids, Madeleine and Fredric. I enjoy arts and antiques at my free time and also like to spend time in the garden of our summer house in the Stockholm archipelago.
