Amended regulations in the Aliens Act on July 20, 2021
The changes mean, among other things, that new requirements are placed on everyone who applies for a permanent residence permit. There are no transitional rules, so all decisions made on 20 July or later are based on the new rules, regardless of when the application was submitted.

The new rules enter into force on 1 June 2022 and apply to new applications and to people who are already waiting for a decision. Researchers and doctoral students have other types of permits and are not directly affected.
